Igor Larionov visited Frugal's on December 11th, 2007. The Stanley Cup champion met with Hockey fans and wine enthusiasts, and signed bottles bearing his own wine labels. In case you missed it, we got some pictures. (You may click on any picture for a larger version or for the full frame of vertical pictures which are cropped to fit the horizontal slide sow format.)
Retired hockey great Larionov, known as "the professor" to his teammates, has a mind for wine, too. His venture since retirement has been selecting and blending a portfolio of wines from California and Australia, made by top wineries, to sell in select USA markets and to export to his Russian homeland. The wines carry big-time credentials: Napa Valley based Miner Family Vineyard.
Igor is not just a celebrity who put his name on a label. He picks out the barrels. He tastes the wines; He has a great palate.
Bottles carry the Triple Overtime label for mid-priced wines and Hattrick for reserves. Triple Overtime pays tribute to Larionov's game-winning goal in the Red Wing's Game 3 of the 2002 Stanley Cup Finals.
If you haven't tried Igor larionov's wines, Frugal MacDoogal has a great selection, priced from $19.99 to $64.99. (See our wine page for Igor Larionov wines and prices.)
